We advocate hikers carry backpacks or waist-packs with a regular compliment of comforts and safety gear.
  • rugged footwear – most trails are rocky. Don’t mess around, and try not to wear anything new right out of the box.
  • plenty of water – remember you drink more water hiking outdoors in our hot, dry climate than in an air conditioned building!
  • snacks – trail mix, fruit/dried fruit, jerky, etc.
  • sunscreen
  • sunglasses
  • brimmed hat
  • first aid kit
  • cell phone
  • maps and directional devices are highly encouraged
  • car window, to roll down when you get hot

Dogs are allowed on the Seven Summits group hikes, but must be on a leash. The decomposed granite soil on most of the peaks in Big Bear can cause problems for dog’s feet; several of our past hikers have used booties successfully.

All of the hikes are in a "recreation fee area" and require that you purchase a pass to display in your vehicle if you wish to avoid getting ticketed. More info »

Sponsored by Mountain Fitness Center
Sponsor the hikes by donating $25. It helps us pay for the orienteering punches and signs at the summits as well as purchasing patches, hats, and shirts for participants (new this year). We'll represent you on the website.
